Eighty gallons of paint and a “stay inside the lines” pattern cover 10,000 square feet on the Wall Stadium Speedway in Jersey Shore, claiming the title of the largest functional QR code to date. (Also vying for the same title is a QR code being painted atop a Charlotte, N.C., building). Only visible from above, this promotional creation can be scanned from two miles up and is nothing short of impressive.
This monstrous piece of marketing-driven artwork was created by Skanz, a QR code social networking service, and was shared exclusively with Mashable. Aside from the ability of being scanned by skydivers, it can safely be scanned from the video above to be entered to win tickets to Jay-Z and Kanye West’s “Watch The Throne” tour.
“We wanted a viral way to build consumer awareness and demonstrate the value and usefulness of QR codes,” Skanz CMO Tammy Lewis says.
We at Creatine Marketing think this is quite the attention grabber, and will prove to be a gateway to even more impressive social networking stunts. What do you think is next?
